After landing, keep the plan simple. Collect your car, find your accommodation, and spend the afternoon getting your bearings. A walk by the water is often a better start than a packed schedule.
Confirm hotel parking in advance. In busy neighborhoods, a convenient garage can be more useful than having the largest possible vehicle.
Find your own Miami
Leave time for the city’s smaller details: neighborhood cafés, independent galleries, and a lunch that lasts longer than expected. A car makes it easier to connect places that are not close together.
Plan parking before you reach a busy district. Once you arrive, exploring on foot often gives you the best sense of the neighborhood.
A day with the ocean
Choose a quieter start for a coastal drive. Keep beach gear compact and remember that valuable items are best kept out of sight when you leave the car.
The most memorable stop may not be the most photographed one. Ask your host for a place they go on their own days off.
Bring the weekend home slowly
On your final day, leave a generous buffer for the rental return and airport transfer. Fill up or charge according to your rental policy.
A relaxed return is a small luxury of its own. Keep the final afternoon clear enough to enjoy the trip until the end.
